BLACK LIVES SLAVERY AND NORTHERN IRELAND

As the 2020 ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests have demonstrated, the barbaric history of slavery and heritage of colonialism needs to be fully acknowledged in a way that Western societies have so far failed to do.

In 2007, when I was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, to mark 200 years the abolition of the slave trade, I published this government pamphlet on Northern Ireland and Slavery
